Senior Consultant, Pricing and Analytics

The opportunity

The Senior Consultant is a technical role with accountability for the delivery of multiple projects within the Insurance Industry vertical, including the management of the analytics quality on these projects, and guidance of junior staff. The Senior Consultant works with Lead Consultants and Executive Managers on projects to transform client opportunities and problems into analytical solutions, as well as helping to identify and realise new opportunities for our insurance clients.

Key responsibilities

  • Accountable for the analytics quality and delivery of insurance pricing and analytics projects
  • Supporting Lead Consultants and Executive Managers to transform client questions and issues into analytical solutions
  • Task management including overseeing and delegating technical tasks amongst analysts
  • Support the technical and professional development of Associates and Consultants through mentoring, coaching and skills development
  • Support Lead Consultants and Executive Managers with the identification and realisation of new opportunities to add value for our insurance industry clients.
  • Potential management and accountability for performance management for a small number of analysts

Do you have a bullet point checklist for me to check off my suitability? 

  • 5+ years’ experience in a highly technical analytics or insurance pricing team, carrying out data analytics, insurance pricing or data science work
  • Experience in supervising the work of others as a senior team member, project manager or team leader
  • Tertiary qualifications in actuarial studies, engineering, mathematics, statistics, physics, or a related discipline
  • Advanced knowledge of technical analytics discipline, including data preparation, feature engineering and foundational analytics concepts, predictive model development and model training
  • Coding and / or modelling experience in SAS / SQL / R / Python
  • Experience with Emblem and Radar is an advantage
  • General Insurance pricing experience is preferred
  • Experience with successfully managing both internal and external stakeholders, delivering against projects, tasks and activities in a dynamic deadline driven environments
  • Commercial acumen to understand business needs and be able to suggest the commercial impacts of different analytics solutions or approaches
  • High attention to detail
  • Drive for continuous improvement
