The Opportunity

 

As a cloud platforms engineer, you will be working closely with engineers, IT, developers and product owners. This role implements best practices for infrastructure deployment in the cloud, leveraging leading edge technology to help create and maintain robust, secure, scalable and flexible environments that stakeholders across the business can use to bring the cloud to Quantium’s clients.

 

You will be making use of key technologies used in the cloud today, with strong focuses on automation, security best practices and consistency of deployment across environments, helping Quantium scale globally.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Using a wide range of technologies, combining strategic work with quick-win tactical work
  • Working within and helping evolve the team’s agile devops processes
  • Building your knowledge and experience with Quantium’s technology stack, and sharing your current knowledge with the team
  • Creating and deploying orchestration and automation software suitable for cloud and on-premise solutions
  • Enhancing tools and interfaces to provide users access to our analytics capabilities
  • Progress Quantium’s full technology deployment stack to bring the cloud to our clients, anchored in an infrastructure as code, modular deployment framework, leveraging both cloud native and agnostic tools
  • Assist with operational requirements of production workflows in the cloud space, providing both break-fix and root cause analysis to technical issues encountered at the infrastructure layer in the cloud
  • Implement security and compliance standards to ensure deployments adhere to best practices in the cloud and maintain Quantium’s ISO27001 certification.

 

Key activities

  • Working directly with the architecture and engineering teams, helping to scope out deployment frameworks in consultation with operations and release teams
  • Design, develop and maintain well engineered orchestration and automation for managing cloud platform services within the Azure/GCP/AWS environments.
  • Help define and implement cloud strategies, architecting Quantium’s Cloud infrastructure, planning migrations and provide advice on governance and operating models
  • Perform technology evaluation and select the most appropriate technology to progress Quantium’s cloud platforms objectives
  • Provide excellent customer service and technical support
  • Exchange knowledge with other colleagues and help strengthen Quantium’s overall cloud capability

 

About you

 

We know people are not bullet points, but we would expect you to have:

 

  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role focussing on cloud engineering and deployment methods, interacting with infrastructure, networking, security best practices, automation, and virtualisation technologies
  • Experience working with one of the major clouds (Azure/GCP/AWS), enabling full stack cloud deployments in an organisation to meet specific requirements
  • Self-reliance, a drive to learn and explore, and the ability to innovate are essential.
  • The desire to engineer in a flexible way, to meet unique business requirements and support a diverse user base
  • Ability to build strong working relationships to understand business requirements, commercial implications/processes as they relate to cloud architecture
  • Scripting across one or more programming languages. We use Python, but experience in other languages is useful.
  • Automated provisioning with Terraform (preferred), Ansible or other automation framework.
  • An understanding of Continuous/Automated deployment approaches.
  • Previous experience working with Kubernetes deployments
