We are seeking an experienced Actuary who thrives in a client facing role, to partner with our clients and deliver high-quality actuarial advice which creates and protects business value.

Your skills and experience will equip you to:

  • Take on a leadership role within our growing insurance consulting practise, influencing and developing our proposition and services
  • Act as a trusted advisor for our key insurance industry clients
  • Support the Appointed Actuary across the full range of client advice, including valuations, reinsurance, capital, data and analytics strategy, pricing and portfolio management, claims analytics, customer analytics and the assessment of strategic initiatives
  • Mentor, train and develop junior staff

The opportunity

The Actuarial Senior Manager is a client adviser who is responsible for delivering high quality actuarial analysis which creates and protects business value for our insurance industry clients. The Lead Consultant understands our client’s problems, needs and opportunities, designs solutions, oversees the delivery of projects and communicates the outcomes to senior client stakeholders, up to and including C-suite Executives.

This role will have a focus on providing high quality actuarial services, across a range of domains aligned to your expertise, including:

  • overseeing all aspects of the actuarial valuation,
  • completing Actuarial Valuation Reports and the Financial Condition Reports,
  • providing reinsurance analysis and advice
  • calibrating Stochastic Capital Models and leveraging the outputs to advise on capital management.
  • advising on areas as varied as data and analytics strategy, pricing and portfolio management, claims analytics, customer analytics and the assessment of strategic initiatives
  • delivering advanced analytics to accident compensation schemes and government or private insurers

Success will see you partnering with clients as a trusted advisor to strengthen commercial relationships. Your ability to communicate clearly and with confidence will be crucial to meeting and exceeding performance expectations.

In addition, this role will play a key role in driving operational excellence, developing and mentoring our emerging talent and contributing to a strong team culture.

  • Oversee the delivery of key projects to clients, from briefing through to execution, ensuring adherence to quality standards
  • Drive opportunity identification and thought leadership for key clients
  • Contribute to capability development, internal knowledge sharing as well as general industry expertise through identification of emerging themes, problems, and opportunities
  • Use insight to present compelling stories that deliver tangible commercial value
  • People management including setting objectives and KPIs, performance reviews, feedback, career mentoring, career pathing for direct reports
  • Continuous development and self-learning: striving to understand how things work and continuously build new knowledge
  • Day-to-day coaching and people development

Do you have a bullet point checklist for me to check off my suitability?

Ideal candidates will have significant years of experience as a General Insurance Actuary as well as:

  • experience as a valuation actuary, and supporting the Appointed Actuary in preparation of AVR’s and FCR’s
  • FIAA or equivalent international qualification
  • commercial acumen to understand business and client needs
  • track record of achieving great results with clients / internal stakeholders
