Role summary

Data is a key ingredient to all Quantium’s products and services and the Operational Analyst is critical to the ongoing operational analysis of data. The appointed Operational Analyst will be required to apply their strong attention to detail, solid commercial acumen and good data operations skills and follow rules and guidelines to ensure compliance with the requirements of handling data. 

 

The Operational Analyst will work with key business stakeholders to support business operations. The tasks performed by the person varies and may include:

  • Produce static business operational reports (no data insight analysis)
  • Automate report generation process
  • Quality assurance of reports
  • Continuous improvement of report production process
  • Generate reporting scripts
  • Build simple report output dashboards in excel
  • Refresh data sets for report generation
  • Validate the data sets from data quality perspective

 

Key stakeholders will include direct team members (Analysts, Senior Analyst, Lead Analyst), Executive Managers and key external client stakeholders.

 

 Key Responsibilities

  • Execute the defined data driven business processes are executed in a timely and consistent manner to produce the expected outcome (e.g. operational reports)
  • Validate the data sets and the reports produced for accuracy
  • Ensure that any data anomalies are identified and addressed in a timely manner
  • Work closely with the stakeholders and analysts to ensure that any data related issues are addressed to the satisfaction of the stakeholders/clients
  • Use data to create reports identifying process improvement opportunities wherever necessary
  • Automate any manual processes as required by the stakeholders
  • Analyse data and trends and create documentation to support reports or processes
  • Aim for continuous improvement of the processes to create efficiency
  • Ensure that the SLAs defined by the stakeholders/clients are met (e.g. reports should be generated with 100% accuracy and submitted to the clients by every Monday 9am Sydney time)
  • Strong learning and acquisition of key technical and commercial skills and Quantium business knowledge to become a proficient Operational Analyst working under minimal supervision

 o KPIs: Timeliness, accuracy, manager and client feedback

  • Pick up all the BAU and adhoc reporting work received from the clients and stakeholder and deliver that with high proficiency and within timelines
  • Work with stakeholders to understand key business problems, determine solution requirements, develop relevant codes/scripts/spreadsheet results and ensure these are as per expectations.
  • Experience working on multiple projects with ability to make changes when needed

Experience and education required

  • 1-3 years of experience in an operational reporting/data role; ability to organise, plan and prioritise operational assignments and perform tasks with minimal supervision
  • Education Qualification – A bachelor’s degree in science/engineering/mathematics
  • Data Queries, report writing and presenting findings using relevant tools
  • Demonstrated understanding of the design and development of data reporting tools and dashboards
  • Experience using statistical packages for analysing datasets (Excel, SAS , SQL Server etc).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel;
  • Good experience in writing medium/complex SQL queries desirable
  • High attention to detail and drive for continuous improvement
  • Good appreciation of the quality of data and the importance of data validation

What does success look like?

After 3 months in the role the incumbent will:

  • be knowledgeable and able to speak confidently about Quantium’s products and solutions
  • be across all the processes required to deliver against the role
  • be able to work under minimal supervision

After 12 months in the role the incumbent will:

  • be delivering operational analytics solutions for our clients using technical/commercial skills to the satisfaction of the clients
  • define and review approach, code and deliverables, able to recommend and improve processes
  • demonstrate proactivity in owning tasks and seeking development opportunities with support from senior analysts / manager determining development areas, seeking relevant work experience
  • proactive communication on work progress and escalating complexities with relevant stakeholders
  • have built strong working relationships with stakeholders and clients
