Role summary

The Visual Designer is responsible for supporting the Brand team in championing Quantium’s visual aesthetic across all key communication points, including PowerPoint decks (70% of the current role), product and client collateral, content development and animation. You will gradually learn, develop and sustain trusted advisor relationships with internal stakeholders and provide brand and design advice to deliver best practice visual communication.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist the team in creating Quantium's brand material and ensure the Brand style guide is being followed
  • Assist the team in refining PowerPoint slides and checking formatting and alignment is consistent
  • Assist in bringing a team's design vision to life in various Microsoft programs and Adobe applications. Animating skills are a bonus.
  • Assist the team with defining guidelines and writing documentation around templates use
  • Contribute to creating design system elements (e.g. making sure various logos and images are saved in brand repository)
  • Must be able to understand and utilise the strengths and limitations of presentation technology including aspect ratios, video and sound
  • Must have good and clear communication skills to be able to discuss design ideas with the team
  • Have ability to organise information in pre-designed templates (e.g. layout design, infographics, general organisation)
  • Able to manage time well to meet deadlines in an efficient manner
  • Willing to learn and to take feedback in positive stride

Key activities

  • Ensure all work is completed as per each project brief
  • Modify and edit previous brand collateral according to brand guidelines
  • Assist the team in ensuring all design brief requests are fulfilled on time
  • Adaptable to changes in work-environment, following instructions for work request processing and day to day responsibilities
  • Ensure accurate record keeping and time tracking
  • Positive attitude and excellent eye for detail
  • Operate as per the defined workflow processes laid by design team
  • Continue to develop speed and accuracy for producing branded documents

Experience and education required

  • Solid knowledge of PowerPoint
  • Design, Communications or Architectural background is a bonus
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite Software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects)
  • Strong organisational and time management skills; able to work on multiple priorities with demanding deadlines
  • Adhere to style guide
  • Basic understanding of corporate branding - style guidelines, typography, design processes, and creative workflow
  • A strong desire to learn new skills, software and capabilities
  • Collaborative style and structured communication (both written and verbal)
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

What does success look like?

  • 3 months:
    - working with the team to deliver the design requests while reaching time bound deadlines
  • 6 months:
    - working autonomously with various internal stakeholders to assist them in following Quantium's style guide and modifying, revising and editing jobs
  • 9–12 months:
    - Contributing to the Quantium design templates as per the guidelines set out by the brand team
    - Advising the brand team of any discrepancies or new guidelines which should be covered.
    - Develop business and product knowledge.

  1. Communication: Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in written form) design ideas and rationale behind deliverables
  2. Software skills: Comfortable using various key Adobe tools and a solid knowledge of PowerPoint
